Introducing the art of..."FOREST BATHING"

WHAT IS IT?

Forest Bathing is exposing oneself to a Forest Environment to experience the wealth of benefits that treeless environments cannot offer us. The Japanese call this practice...

Shinrin Yoku and accredit it for being good for physical & mental wellbeing.

. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS?

  • Reduce Stress Hormone Production

  • Improve Feelings of Happiness

  • Free up Creativity

  • Lower Heart Rate & Blood Pressure

  • Boost the Immune System Accelerate Recovery from Illness and Disease

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Physically:

Plants release organic compounds called Phytoncides which help them to fight off diseases with their antibacterial and antifungal properties. When we breath these in, our bodies respond by increasing the number and activity of a type of White Blood Cell called a Natural Killer or NK Cell. These Cells are responsible for killing virus infected and tumor cells in our

body. Studies have shown that a 3 DAY & 2 NIGHTS STAY in a FOREST Environment will cause an increase in NK activity (basically an IMMUNE BOOST) for more than 30 days.

Mentally:

Forest Bathing supports a '3 Circles' Model - which relates to...

1: the Pursuit of Joy

2: the Connection to Calm and

3 :the Avoidance of Threat

Each of these states stimulates different hormones with Nature balancing the Three Circles and helping to increase happiness and mental wellbeing.

Our increasing disconnect from nature and decreasing levels of physical activity are beginning to have a profound effect on the world’s physical health. Time spent in the forest is time well-spent. Forest Bathing combines the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of being in the forest with the spiritual benefits of meditation.
